Megumi Okaya

Violin

Born in Nagoya in 1992. Graduated from the Senior High School of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, then earned her first master’s degree at the Tokyo University of the Arts proper.
Decorated with numerous awards while enrolled. Made her way to Germany in 2016, where she earned a master’s degree at the University of Music at Würzburg. Subsequently proceeded to do the same at the School of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin. Simultaneously studied under Noah Bendix-Balgley, Concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker, as a student at the Karajan Academy, where she gained training in an orchestra. Passionately committed to chamber music as well. Attended Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy and masterclasses.
Has studied under Haruru Sasaki, Kazuki Sawa, Takako Yamasaki, Eszter Perényi, Pierre Amoyal, Herwig Zack, and Kolja Blacher thus far. Has taken masterclasses by Pavel Vernikov, Gérard Poulet, Oleh Krysa, Zakhar Bron, and Mark Gothoni, through which she benefited from additional musical tutelage and inspiration.
Has been based in Munich since September 2021, where she performs as a First Violinist of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
