Kenji Sasaki
Cello
Made his way to the United States unaccompanied at the age of 16. Graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in the State of Michigan and subsequently from the Eastman School of Music in the State of New York.
Completed graduate program at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Acquired qualification to teach all volumes of the Suzuki Method.
Participated in the Aspen Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival (PMF), and was awarded a full merit scholarship for each.
Has played together with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma and Daniil Trifonov thus far.
Performed as a principal under the conducting of Riccardo Muti, Leonard Slatkin and others. Has also served as principal on both the Firelands Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
Performs on “Recital Passio” on the NHK-FM radio network.
Currently belongs to Hyogo Performing Arts Center (PAC) Orchestra as an affiliate player (a performer who also provides operational support) after serving as a vorspieler (co-principal). Is also currently a member of the Japan National Orchestra as a resident player. Has served as a part-time instructor at the Kyoto City University of Arts since April 2025.
